Email from Camcycle member about Garret Hostel Lane and Burrell's Walk:
There are some faded indications here of which side bikes and pedestrians
are meant to use. These need repainting to help reduce conflict,
particularly for tourists and people new to the city.

Back on 12th December 2019, I cycled over Riverside Bridge and noticed that one of the bridge cables had been cut.
I've just uploaded 2 photos to CycleStreets:
I would like to know if it is since been repaired -so if anyone here cycles over Riverside Bridge, please could you take a look.
And if it has not been fixed, who/how show I report it, please?
Or has anyone else reported it already?
Thanks
Clare

The government has announced it will hold a consultation on the introduction of the battery-powered scooters to British roads.
What are the implications for people cycling, walking and scooting?
What is Camcycle's position/policy about e-scooters?

Bus gate at Clay Farm Centre is marked with a "no entry except buses" sign - this route it used by many bikes, and should probably be changed. I'd rather not go through no-entry signs, but I do at the moment as it's the only sensible route by bike from Trumpington Park Primary to Lime Avenue.

I'm concerned that the current entryway design and policy on entering the school grounds at Milton Road Primary School is dangerous for people cycling (many of whom are children). I would like to suggest an improved entryway design and policy on entering the school grounds to the school for their consideration. Is there anyone with experience in this area who could advise? Or anyone who'd like to join me in making the submission?

Bene't street will be closed for four weeks (until early/mid Feb 2020) so that Anglian Water can work to repair a collapsed sewer in Cambridge. A diversion for cars will in place. The footpath is open to people walking and pushing their cycles. The diversion for the cars means that Corn Exchange street is two-way for cars and this has implications for people cycling on the contraflow lanes.

A new set of barriers has appeared on the hospital side of the usway bridge at Addenbrookes.
Creates the usual set of problems for cargo bikes and less confident bike users, with the added bonus of being on a steep hill that ices up regularly, and right next to a busway with a record of squishing people who fall onto it.

I'm investigating multiple reports of accidents with experienced cyclists suddenly slipping off their bikes and would appreciate knowing about anyone this has happened to recently. The common characteristics are:
Experienced cyclists.
No frost/ice on road.
Sudden loss of control of bike, wheels slipping out.
Visible residue on the road.
Injury serious enough to go to A&E.
Approval of matters reserved for appearance, landscaping, layout and scale following outline planning permission S/2876/16/OL for a residential development comprising 154 dwellings including access.

As described in the winter 2019 Camcycle magazine there is a group working on getting some improvements to the Trumpington busway. The magazine concentrates on the northern end of the busway but we are also seeking upgrades to the Addenbrookes spur junction and the crossing at Hobson Avenue/Lime Avenue as well as adding pedestrian footpath from the Hills Road Bridge all the way to Drury Avenue.
The group would like to start getting this out to users of the path for input, discussion and help with campaigning. Many Biomedical Campus commuters presumably use this path frequently, even daily. It would be great to get some input.

The link from Barton Road to the Lammas Land car park (and the car park itself) have been closed to all use by the County Council for some development work. This is a buisy cycle route, and no effort has been put into providing a diversion. Currently most people are cycling across the grass behind the hedge beside the road (though how long this will remain possible if it rains is unclear); an alternative is to use other paths across Lammas Land, but they are narrow, not actually marked for cycling, and it's further.
According to a notice at the junction with Barton Road this work will continue to the start of December. There was and is no warning when approaching from east of the river.
