Installation of new car park control barrier, at Scott Polar Research Institute, Lensfield Road, Cambridge, CB2 1ER
This is a heavily-used entrance for cycling and walking. The proposed cycle/walk section seems far too small.
This might not be a problem if closed only at night, but during the day would cause an obstruction.
The proposed conversion and new residential development of 48 Verulam Way/15 Ellesmere Road, Cambridge, CB4 2HL to form 8 one bedroom studio apartments.
Eight secure cycle spaces are provided but only at the rear of the development. Is there a risk that cycles are left on the pavement? the proposal includes 6 off-road car parking spaces.

There's a very poor dogleg right-angle with barriers at the entrance/exit from the West Cambridge site to Clerk Maxwell Road.
This should be turned into a wide splay with good visibility.

I have observed vehicles queuing at the rising bollards on St. John's Street before 4pm, apparently mostly belong to market tradespeople waiting for the bollards to go down. On at least one occasion this has meant the road is impassable to cyclists.

There is an ongoing shortage of cycle parking spaces. As a result, people park their bikes against lamp post, railings and trees. This is not a sustainable situation and additional secure cycle parking spaces are desperately needed.
The campus is known to be a target of cycle thieves, hence this issue needs to be resolved as a matter of urgency.

The stretch of NCN51 along Stourbridge Common between the Green Dragon Bridge and Riverside is hopelessly inadequate for the high volume of traffic, too narrow, surfacing badly breaking up with a number of hazards - rowing coaches, cows, joggers with headphones etc.
Would anyone else support campaigning for a new two way cycle path through that stretch of Stourbridge common to the south of the existing path (through the middle of that bit of common) from the Green Dragon Bridge to an improved access at Riverside, and leave the path by the river to its myriad of other users? Its only going to get busier when the new station opens...

Small development, there is very little information about cycle however a quick look at the drawing suggests that cycle parking layout is problematic.
From the Planning and Heritage statement.
The accompanying block plan clearly demonstrates that the proposed site arrangements provide for convenient and adequate locations for refuse collection, recycling and on-site cycle parking to provide opportunities to create an attractive setting with suitable hard landscaping and the use of coordinated materials of appropriate colour and texture would ensure a high quality build.
It is considered that although no on-site parking has been made available to the proposed dwellings, the application site’s highly sustainable location and on-site secured cycle storage would encourage future occupiers depend less on private vehicles and travel via other more sustainable methods.
See "PROPOSED BLOCK AND LOCATION PLAN" for drawing.

Due to proximity to other hot spots e.g. Severn Place, Newmarket Road, Eastern Gate I thought it relevant to raise this issue.
There is a change of use from A1 and B1 to D1. (Retail to University Education).
If they are expecting students to access this site then there must be cycle parking and safe infrastructure for cycling to the location. None of this is mentioned in the planning application.

The link from Barton Road to the Lammas Land car park (and the car park itself) have been closed to all use by the County Council for some development work. This is a buisy cycle route, and no effort has been put into providing a diversion. Currently most people are cycling across the grass behind the hedge beside the road (though how long this will remain possible if it rains is unclear); an alternative is to use other paths across Lammas Land, but they are narrow, not actually marked for cycling, and it's further.
According to a notice at the junction with Barton Road this work will continue to the start of December. There was and is no warning when approaching from east of the river.
